This morning, shortly after I got to work, a police car when screaming by follow by another. We see this often, so we didn't think it was odd. Until about 3 more went by, and by that time we were wondering what in the world was going on. So we headed to the bank to do the deposit for the store and everything and while we were in the bank I heard about 3 or 4 cop cars racing the other direction.

Come to find out later when my mom called and told me, there was a shooting in the food court at our mall. The suspect was shot then tried to get away so the police chased them. He finally stopped and fired at the police, shooting one officer, but they finally got him and took him to the emergency room along with the officer.

A friend called me later to tell me that they had taken the officer to have surgery done, but sadly he died during surgery. He was on the force for 31 years and was going to retire later this year. But what really upsets me is that the guy who shot him was trying to steal a purse before he decided to pull a gun out.

A man's life was ended over a purse containing no more than 50 bucks, probally. And all of this was done within a mile of where I was. Please be in prayer for the family of the officer, I can't imagine how his family is feeling right now. As for the suspect... I don't actually care, but whatever they do it either involve a quick end or a COMPLETE lifetime in jail. This concerns me even more because my girlfriend works a few days a week at American Eagle which is located right outside the food court. I'm not sure now if I need to go up there every night she closes and make sure she gets to her car safely or what.

To make things even worse, not too long ago a 14 year old and a 15 year old kidnapped and raped a 65 year old woman. And they did it at the exact same mall. I really don't want to think about what will happen if that happened to Megan. I'm not sure if I could hold my rage, especially if I find out who did it. But, I'm thinking way too far ahead of myself. Just, please, pray. Pray for everything. Not me or Megan, but everyone else. Thank you.
