I haven't read any of the replies to your post yet, but I will as soon as I post this. It's a real can of worms, this Jackson-Reagan thing. Personally, I wouldn't place either on the top-ten presidents list, but Reagan was at least not a racist. He had some great people skills, and like you say, a landslide victory speaks volumes for him.
But a lot of our fellow Tennesseans strongly defend Jackson, and would fight to keep him on the twenty. I might even give him a slight edge myself, but just because he has been there for so long. I think naming an airport for Reagan was a bit much, considering his treatment of the air traffic controllers.
Let's see now. We could mint a two-cent piece with Clinton on it, and put Nixon on the $2 bill. Gerald Ford already has his name on a lot of hubcaps, so we don't have to worry about him. Maybe we should put Jimmy Carter somewhere, or would that be a step down from having your name on a Nobel Prize? I don't know who's next on the $1 coin, but that is a sure ticket to oblivion. Howard
