that old phonephobia

I got to thinking about LaZorra's problem with the telephone, and I realize that I still use one that is tied to the wall by a cord. I don't have a cell phone, either. Everybody else in the family has one so I don't need one.
If a phone rings and there is anybody else within earshot, I don't answer the confounded thing. It probably isn't for me anyway. I prefer email.
As we get older, it's a good idea to have phones all over the house and we have five, none of which is cordless. And of course my wife has her cell phone.
I've had bad experiences with cordless phones. The origial batteries go bad quickly and they never work at all on new batteries. The reception was always bad, and the signal never made it as far as the garden. I haven't bought one in about ten years. Maybe they are better now.
One facet of my phonephobia is people who drive while talking on the phone. Scarrrrry! Howard
