The USA is a nation of collectors. Lots of people collect coins, stamps, or pocket knives, but a few collect off-the-wall stuff like barf bags from airlines, or wanted posters from the post office*.

Things like dog tags with the date of a rabies vaccination sometimes wind up in collections. Newspaper from historic dates have always been popular. More than a few people have the Nov. 22, 1963 issue or Dec. 7, 1941, or Sept. 11, 2001.

I've seen collections of movie star pictures. Most were those 8 X 10 black and white glossies that the stars used to send out in answer to fan letters.

You may run across a collector of boarding passes, theatre ticket stubs, bobble head dolls which are sometimes called "nodders," marbles, autographed baseballs, toy matchbox cars, horseshoes, arrowheads, cartridge cases or just about anything else that offers the variety that collectors crave.

So far, I've never located a collector of plastic flower pots or mustard jars, but I suppose it could happen.
