Interesting Discovery in MR

I've either just encountered a bug in Murkon's Refuge, or something that's supposed to happen that I'd never discovered before.

I'm attempting to access the Leviathan area of Level 9 via the bronze door area on Level 8, and I do not have a light, so I'm navigating via the 3-D perspective maze view, and even though I have the bronze key, I can't get through the door! Or, to be more exact, I can't get *to* the door. I go through the unlocked doorway, proceed down the hall, and find myself back outside the unlocked doorway, again and again. Yet I was just in this area my last trip out, when I had a light and orientation.

Is it then a *requirement* of accessing that part of level 9 that you have a light? Or is this an actual bug? Has anyone else ever encountered this restriction before?
