The dagger is for the guard once u get into the castle. but as I said before u need to have given the soothsayer 4 gold pieces to get the pass ring from her to take u through the fire. the one most often missed is in the garden itself. enter garden north all the way then east until it tells u to rest. then south and among the orange flowers search.
