ok here goes. without your full inventory its a little difficult.
the lab is on the 3rd floor. there are 2 doors side by side. in one is the lab.
as for the candles they're just atmosphere and the woman in the maze is just there to give u directions out.
yes there is a machine but i believe u have to put the sphinx on the floor in order to find it.
will all beome clear in the 3rd floor room.
