a busy time

Date: Thursday, May 13, 2004, at 18:53:44 This is May, and it has always been a busy time. Since I quit teaching I am free of all that end-of-year paperwork, but other things have moved in to take up the slack. I have two grand children graduating from high school this year, so there are graduations to attend. Our 9-year-old grand daughter just had her toncils out. My wife's mother is coming for a visit. We have a yard sale tomorrow and Saturday. I am preparing for a scooter meet in Texas next month. The people across the street have invited us to a party. I need to change the oil in the truck and car. I am mowing the yard once or twice each week. The cherries are getting ripe and need to be picked. The blueberries won't be far behind and the garden is turning green. Some of that green may be vegetables. I just discovered that a large black gum tree in the back yard is dead. My chain saw needs sharpening. My cousin in Iceland wants me to have my DNA tested so he can run down some distant ancestors. And on top of that, my big sister is planning a wedding at the ripe old age of 72. How did I ever find time to make a living? |
