If I just hold off, will something better/cheaper/more desirable come along in the next 20 minutes? (Okay, yes, that always happens with electronics, but is this one worth buying anyway?) > > > > koalamom > > My brother in-law has one, and he uses it almost constantly. Of course, to do that you have to buy some kind of adapter thingy that will hook up to your car stereo so you can play it while you're in the car without putting headphones on. BUT he did spend a lot of money on it, which he's now wishing he hadn't. He still loves it but wouldn't do it again if he had the choice. Or perhaps he'd wait until prices went down. Anyway, cool? certainly; worth the money? that depends on how much you have. I'd probably buy one if I weren't a broke college student. Sure beats lugging around a CD case. > > Vida
My roommate just bought one and he picked up this attachment thing that allows it to broadcast a signal on an FM frequency so that any normal radio can pick it up and play it. Since the signal is coming from neabry (most of the time) it's pretty good -- apparently, two cars travelling together can both listen to the same iPod this way. I don't know much about the overall value of the iPod itself (I might be more inclined to get a PDA with lots of memory and music-playing capabilities myself) but he seems happy with it so far.
