MR level 2 - I can't find the town ( spoilers, maybe )

Hello: I made it to level 2 but I can't find the town and I seem to be going around in circles. It seems like the only way that I have not been is near the stairs from the first level because they do not let you go there. The numbering also seems to be off on this level. Does anyone have any hints for finding the town? Thank you.
