As it was, I felt like I was cheated out of 2 days of my free trial, you know?) I was really looking forward to seeing a couple of the DVDs that I had in my queue and they didn't ever make it.
Strange. I think Stephen told me recently that he's never once gotten the wrong DVD in all the years he's been with them. I've been with Netflix for about a year now, and I've gotten the wrong DVD two or three times. Occasionally a certain DVD will be harder for them to locate than others, and the delay will be greater than usual. But most of the time it's one-day shipping both ways.
It perhaps depends on the nearest shipping center to you. When I signed up, they were shipping out of Worcester, Mass, and it was two days each way. Then somewhere along the line they opened up one in Manchester, NH, and I started getting overnight deliveries. I didn't notice a quality of service difference, but it certainly stands to reason that if one particular center has idiots working for them, the service may not be as good.
You're probably a healthy shipping time away from San Francisco, but on the off-chance you aren't, you might try GreenCine (greencine.com). I signed up with them for three months in order to get a couple of titles that Netflix hadn't then stocked.
