The kids seem like teenagers for the newest, and they are not in the books, if I remember right. But this is a bigger issue for other people than it is for me. I had a discussion about just this topic while I was at work tonight, so I thought about it when I read your post. > > > > Actually by the third book they were supposed to be 13, so I guess it depends on how old you think they look. I don't think it is a problem for this movie, but I am not sure about the next, if the lag time is another 2 years. >
If I might contribute a bit...
According to the books, the kids are in fact growing up at this time - in either the second or third book, it mentions that Ron in particular has shot up in height over the summer holiday. I know there was a problem with the actors looking too old for the roles, but in my opinion, this movie - which is already filmed - was the crucial point and after this, the characters would be going through puberty anyway so it stops mattering so much.
But it really comes down to this: I personally like the actors and I don't think the movies would be quite the same if new kids were picked to play the parts. I hope the filmmakers don't go and choose new actors, even if the current ones are seen as looking older than they're supposed to.
