Monster Arena - a less theoretical question

Now that we're into the late rounds of elimination, this has probably happened to somebody.

Suppose that after a battle your characters are supposed to get +1 Con and +1 Extra, but one of your characters already has the maximum 20 Con. Does that character get +2 Extra, or does the extra Con point mysteriously vanish?
