I'm pretty sure it's not a joke. I heard mention of a similar site a couple of years ago, and thought it was a pretty good idea. But I've never used such a service for the same reason Maryam said -- too much risk of sending everyone a false alarm. And anyway, Mrs. Iss would probably find a way to let the Rinkish folk know if I'd suddenly gone up the creek, kicked the bucket, shuffled off this mortal coil, run down the curtain, and joined the bleeding choir invisible.
