Glad to hear that you've come through that all right and are feeling better now. I remember when I was eight or nine years old and my dad's appendix... well, I don't think it ruptured, but he had appendicitis and had to have it removed. A few years after that my sister's did rupture and I remember the weeks she was in the hospital. For a while I lived in fear that the same thing would happen to me. It hasn't yet, but I don't really even think about it much any more. It's like you said: medical science has come so far that a ruptured appendix doesn't even seem all that serious any more... until it happens to you.
