I will be leaving tomorrow with the equestrian team for Twin Falls, Idaho and the NCAA Zone Chamionships. I'm going as a alternate (which is kind of like being the Vice President--you just sit around waiting for the person above you to bite the dust), so I won't be competing, but so much the better. Free plane tickets, hotel room (providing they don't cancel our reservations on us :-P), plus travel money--what could be better?

Leaving at a decent hour might be nice. The plane *leaves* at 4:30--and that ain't PM. EVEN THE DONUT SHOPS ARE NOT OPEN THAT EARLY. I have to meet up with the team at 4:00 at the barn, which means I need to leave my house at 3:00, which means I have to get up at 2:00, which means I might as well just stay up the entire night. I get tired just thinking about it.

But it will be fun. Friday we get to spend just driving around Twin Falls (I've never been to Idaho; I thought all they had to see was potatoes), provided we don't freeze to death. The high temperature is supposed to be like 57. I'm a California girl; it was almost 70 here today and I was still cold. I wonder if they'll laugh if I show up in my Caltrans-orange snowsuit?

But at least when we get back Monday morning I'll be on spring break. Now *that* is something to look forward to.
