never enough time

Looking forward to having enough time to do everything you need to do? Summer vacation, maybe? Spring break? Retirement? Don't bet on it. There is aways a to-do list, even if you don't write it down. If you're married there may be a honey-do list. Bosses and teachers tend to fill your free time.

I have a few things I need to do. Outside, I need to fix that confounded mailbox which is leaning again. It is almost time to plant the garden and the grass is going to need cutting. The car and truck are filthy, griiimmmmy, dirty, and there is a canoe back there that needs repair and paint. I have had a weather vane for the top of the garage for several months, and have yet to put it up there. If I was at home, I could spend an entire day on the computer and still not be caught up on my computing.

And a there is always a list of places to go. We are trying to work in a trip to the 9/11 display in Knoxville, "Phantom" in Crossville, and Dollywood in Pigeon Forge. In the last couple of weeks we have driven from home to Cochran, Georgia, back home, and then to Lascassas, Tennessee, and from there to Kennesaw, Georgia, which is where we are now, I think. Later today we will drive home and tomorrow to Pigeon Forge.

While at the scooter meet last week, I bought a ton (slight exaggeration) of scooter parts and have not had time to install any of them. I have wheels to paint and tires to mount and oil to change (tiller, lawn mower, truck and three scooters). The little red wagon project is still not finished and the homemade bumper for the lawn mower is still lying on the shop floor. I haven't finished the March National Geographic and travel magazines are stacked up. I'd like to find time to watch some NASCAR races on TV this weekend. We are trying to schedule our regular doctors' appointments and a cruise. Frankly, I don't think the cruise is going to make it. We need to have a yard sale.

And sadly, all of this backup has happened to a guy who has been unemployed for a decade and should have all the time in the world. Well, I gotta go. I have to walk a mile every day just to be sure I'm getting enough exercise.
