Thanks, Mandichaos. Yes, I've already freed the bird. I don't really remember but I think that the paper I found at the bottom of the cage I exchanged for the vaccuum cleaner. Anyway, I don't have it now. I know I can go west. I just don't know how. I have seen only the main gates and it didn't say anything about using the iron key. I'll go back and look again. Maybe I missed something. I did go to the village again and gave the guy the feather. He gave me the seed. Now, what do I give to the downstairs maid so that she'll give me the ladder? Do I find it in the cemetary? Sue
