The laws of probability bear this out, but the movies most commonly cited as the greatest movies of all time are almost exclusively anchored in the 1930s and 1940s, under a culture and a system of movie production we'll almost certainly never return to.

The technology used to produce movies is getting better and cheaper, but the art of it is not.

Unfortunately, I have to disagree with you. I'm pretty sure commercial businesses never quite get over the obsession with making money.
