I'd seen it before, but the second and third viewings were just as fresh as the first. I think I'm in the same boat (pun intended!) with you on this one. I love the movie. I think it deserves to be added to the Film-Lovers Checklist, whether it wins at the Oscars or not. > > > > I too love Captain Jack Sparrow. I haven't seen Johnny Depp in a lot; basically just Pirates and Edward Scissorhands, but now I want to see some more of his films. I'm curious to see his other performances; I want to see if my wife's criticism that he has no range and just plays "himself" is true. I certainly can't agree based on the two movies I've seen; the characters of Cap'n Jack and Ed Scissorhands are vastly different. > > > > Gri"savvy?"shny > > I don't know if this qualifies as a co-rinkydink or not, but I mentioned the movie to my wife and she quickly produced a CD of it. It seems that she borrowed it from our daughter the last time we were in Georgia, and it has been lying there on top of the entertainment center for a couple of weeks. Now if I can just find the time to watch it. > Howard
I think this movie deserves a lot of credit, as when I originally heard that it was being made, I (along with many others) rolled my eyes at yet another movie where the title was thought up before the plot.
Fortunately, all the reviews I had heard about it were positive, and now that I have seen the flick thanks to Grishny, I can say that I did very much enjoy the movie. My favorite characters were the captain of the Black Pearl (what's his name again? Barrino or some such?) and Captain Jack Sparrow. I found the two British soldiers (the ones guarding the dock in the beginning) that kept turning up rather amusing as well.
