Isn't a book musical pretty much the standard, like following a plot, often with full scenes of dialogue between songs, as opposed to a revue, which is merely a collection of songs on a theme?
As i understand it, Webber's Phantom, Dreamcoat, and JC Superstar are book musicals, whereas A Little Night Music and maybe Cats might be revues. (Admittedly, hard for me to present certain examples, since i'm really not familiar with much of Webber's work, outside of the first three i mentioned).
