True. But listen to what happens in Italy...

Fines depend on how much the car was over the speed limit (in Km/h). Not more than 10Kmh over is 50 Euros, 20Kmh over is 100 Euros, 40kmh over is 200 Euros, more than 40Kmh over is 500 Euros and your driving license is suspended three to six months.

On the most important freeways and highways, speed traps are *always* in the same well known and visible location, marked by traffic signs that say "Speed Trap in the next 5kms", so speeders that get caught are either really stupid or really don't look out when driving.

On the other hand, in some small villages where speed fines help to raise funds, speed traps are often deceived as dumpsters or bushes ("hey, yesterday that bush was on the *other side* of the road") or other similar things.
