This morning we went to the hospital for my
wife's five-month ultrasound examination.

When we had the same exam during her last
pregnancy, it was very quick and we didn't see
much. I think the doctor was in a hurry. We
wanted to know what we were having, but he
said he couldn't tell.

This time was quite different. The technician
who did the exam was very friendly and spent
a good twenty minutes showing us our baby.
She showed us his face, arms, and legs; his
beating heart and several other organs. We
could see our baby opening and closing his
mouth and sticking his little tongue in and out.
All this at only five months... it was amazing.

Well, again, we wanted to know what we were
having, and were afraid that the same thing
would happen again, so we told her up front
that if she couldn't tell for certain, not to make
a guess and just let us be surprised.
However, this lady was determined. Baby had
his legs crossed, so she poked and prodded
until he moved... and now we know!

I've scanned in and added to our web site the
pictures from the ultrasound, including the
one from two months. Feel free to check 'em
out!
