keeps you young

I was posting on a Cushman forum the other day and happened to mention that I kept meeting people who were surprise to find that at 70, I still ride motor scooters. It never seemed unusual to me, because for decades, I've seen people scooting around campgrounds with gray hair flying in the breeze.
Anyway, just the mention of older scooterists brought several replies. Most of them mentioned someone in their 70's or 80's who still rides. I think the oldest mentioned was 89. As long as your sense of balance is still working and you adjust your speed to match slowed reflexes, there is no reason why an older person can't keep riding.
Some have bad knees and have to rely on an electric starter or find someone else to kick-start the machine, but riding doesn't take a lot of strength. Older riders have to avoid falling off, because old bones don't hold up very well, but most have had years of practice and accidents are rare.
There are benefits. I never get off a scooter feeling old. Howard
