Just for the record, they continued to build airplanes, flying further, and higher. Some of their planes were for the government, and others for their own experiments.
I watched the attempt to repeat their first flight a hundred years later, with a replica of their "Flyer." And like others, I was disappointed when the 21st century Flyer failed. The Wrights were perfectionists and sticklers for detail. The people who built the replica, were just following a design.
What was interesting to me is that another group built a replica using modern materials and modern technology. It looked the same, but it flew beautifully. Howard
