This didn't happen to me, but to a friend who recently moved from Utah to Palm Springs. I'll excerpt it here, for your reading pleasure:
"Oh remember the little theatre I told you about(WARNING: this story contains great heartbreak and agony) So they are opening the Lord of the Rings on a one night gala twelve days early. They are also having a luncheon, awards assembly, and a questions and answers open forum with their guest of honor. Guess who made reservations in time but didn't have enough money to afford the tickets( that's me)? Oh and by the way, their guest of honor is SIR Ian McKellan. AAAHhhhhhhhhthe outrage. The cruel twist of fate that has robbed me of this glorious night. Now I probably wouldn't take it so hard but it's right across the street for crying out loud. Well anyways I guess that's what being an adult is. Cause I had the money but I couldn't afford to get licensed if I had bought the tickets, and seeing as I might get a job tomorrow that would be a bad thing."
