My first flight was to Colorado Springs to visit my grandparents. I remember a little about the flight, but since I was still in elementary school at the time the details are kinda vague. I remember looking out of the plane window, and walking down the gate ramp, but not much else.

The first flight I remember with clarity (my second flight) was the one in which our family went to Israel. That one made a lifetime impression. I was in eighth grade at the time.

We had a jump from Dayton to JFK aboard Piedmont (gotta love names of defunct airlines) where we boarded a HUGE jumbo jet owned by El-Al to go overseas. The thing had four seats per row on each side section and ten seats in the middle.

Another thing I recall on that flight was looking out the window (I still managed to get a window seat, heh heh) and watching the sun set behind me, and only a few hours later seeing it rise in front of me. That was creepy. And this was in February. That was better than the 24-hour day we had coming back. That was just plain LONG.

Good times.
