I agree with your father. I'm a father myself.
As strange as it seems, a spectacular rollover accident is less likely to injure you than a good solid hit. If you have to choose between a rollover and a head-on, take the rollover. Sometimes you actually do have a choice.

Look at that accident as a lesson learned. I'm betting it makes you a better driver.
