This little Broadway musical includes songs like "We're in the Money" and the title song, "42nd Street." There was a lot of toe-tapping on stage and in the audience. It's a fast-paced, singin' an' dancin' play with flashy costumes, a corny story, and lots of laughs. When it ends, you can't believe it's over and then you realize that it's been three hours since the opening curtain.

I worked in community theatre back in the 50's, so I appreciate their efforts. Sometimes I think the Cumberland County Playhouse is a step above community theatre. They import actors from as far away as New York. But the backbone of their productions is a dedicated group of people who live in or near Crossville.

They have a new theatre-in-the-round and we are going to see a play there in a few weeks. They often have several productions going at the same time. The old theatre is larger and I think I will always like it best, but some plays just work better in a small theatre-in-the-round.
