Yesterday, Bill Elloitt, age 48, won the NASCAR race at Rockingham, North Carolina. Bill has been at it for a long time. He used his experience to out-drive a number of younger drivers with very fast cars. But he was clearly the class of the field, and led more laps than anybody.
The driver who finished second, stated that, "He's been one of my heros all of my life."
I once heard Bill described as: "He talks like Gomer Pyle, looks like Huckleberry Finn, and drives like the devil." He has always been fast, but he is careful, races clean, and gets the most out of his equipment. It was good to see him in victory lane. Howard
