Trinity REALLY dies in the third movie (Just saw it).. they crash in the machine city and she dies in the crash. Neo dies at the very end of the movie when he defeats Agent Smith, but he saves Zion and ends the war.. kind of a sucky ending if you as me

> > Interesting. Technically, Trinity "dies," but did the Architect know Neo could save her? Or, maybe as Dave speculates, do the machines trick Neo after he leaves the Architect's room, allowing him to *think* he's saved Trinity, so that he'll eventually return to the Source? I'm not sure.

That would mean the end of the movie, the part where Neo saves Trinity and stops the sentinels, doesn't take place in The Matrix and Zion either, but in that little sandbox. That IS the theory you're suggesting, right?

> Well, there are two fundamental problems with that theory. One, the machines do not have / are not supposed to have the information required to recreate Neo's real invironment (how would they know what the Nebuchadnezar looks like?). They couldn't have made a local copy of it because there's no way they could know about it.

> Second, Neo faints. The last 5 minutes of the movie have him being unconscious. It makes no sense for the last 5 minutes of the movie to be played by a bunch of fake conscious people standing around a real but unconscious Neo. Since the Trinity and Morpheus (and Niobe, and...) must have been real, and since they're definitely as "out" of the matrix as they ever were, the world this all took place in was the real Zion as we've seen it, not a sandbox copy built especially to trick Neo into rejoining the Source.

> On a slightly different note though, did anyone notice that in the preview for revolutions, Neo and Smith seem to be in a somewhat seperate world, while at the end of Reloaded, they're both unconscious? My bet is that this fight takes place while they're both still unconscious, whereever their minds went to. I'm guessing that their bodies here falling unconscious is what their escaping to the "next" level looks like. This would mean they will remain unconscious for most of the third movie. Anyway, time will tell...
