Sometimes those things work out for the better.

We had an entire city block that burned to the ground a few years ago. Most of the buildings were 80 to 100 years old and included a run-down old hotel, some shabby store buildings and an old bank building that was serving as a library. It was the center of what was once the downtown Lenoir City business district.

Now that space is occupied by a big, modern, brick building with a classic look. It houses an extension of a community college, an employment service that retrains workers, and a great library. Downtown Lenoir City is now a viable business district like it was 40 years ago. The whole town is better off since that fire.
