On Oct. 8, I posted a question about Puntarenas, Costa Rica. I was trying to find out what the name means. Now, having been there, I know that Puntarenas means "sandy point" and the name fits. It's a small seaport town located on a long, narrow, low point of sand in a shallow bay. I guess they dredged a channel for the larger ships to come in. It's a little off the beaten path and gives you a good taste of the real Costa Rica, which is more than you can say about regular cruise ship stops.
More about this stop later in "Sailing Across the Continental Divide." Howard
