They could be such a good team, but they always fall apart in the endgame. Last night was tied 4-4, and then the Cubs let *three* runs through in the fourteenth! Three! There is no excuse for that. Nor is there any excuse for losing to the Brewers. At least Sammy got his sixtieth home run.

Fear not, fair maid - the Cubs won against the Cardinals today 5-3. It was a fairly dull game - a *lot* of walks. Sammy went 1-9, and Mark McGwire 1-10. The Cubs also set a new season attendance record - especially odd considering they're in last place and have been for quite some time. Teams in last place don't generally attract huge crowds of fans - but I guess Cubs fans are just loyal like that. Oh, yeah, and there is Sammy - he's still leading the home run derby by two over Mark McGwire (61-59), and they're way ahead of third place Ken Griffey, Jr. (47).
