Good question. I would tend to answer it as "believing that the original documents of our nation's founding should be interpreted through the lens of modern times" - because with the "conservative" definition, the important part is that the original historical context still remains.

Doesn't it, though? Could you imagine the United States without a constitution? It would be completely and utterly different from the society that we know. And I'm not just saying that the mere having of a constitution is all that matters either.
