I use "forward" if for not better reason than it seems to cause the page to reload less. Under normal conditions, of course, even reclicking a link will still get the page from cache, but not always. The other use is if you're further back than one page; reclicking a link won't just take you forward, it'll truncate the page stack, chopping off anything that might have come afterward.
