My son has a box, taller than he is, that he's been playing in since we moved into our house. It's the box his stroller came in, so we've had it since before he was born. My wife cut two large holes in the sides for him to crawl in and out of, and he only plays with it inside the house, so there's little danger of him meeting with an accident like your grandson's.
We keep it in the garage most of the time, and I keep thinking that I'm going to finally break it down and get rid of it, but every once in a while he remembers it and asks for it, and I come home and find it in our living room once again, full of toy cars or stuffed animals.
Gri"he got him a 'magination"shny
