I've been driving for over 50 years and today for the first time, I was stopped for speeding. So, in keeping with an old American custom, I decided that I would just talk my way out of it. The officer said he wanted to see my license, but I told him I threw it away because it was expired. Then he asked to see my registration, and again I said no can do. He wanted to know why not, and I told him it was in the glove compartment and that I had an unregistered gun in there and if he was to accidently see it he'd have to arrest me. So naturally I couldn't open the glove compartment. He was beginning to get a little testy and asked me to get out of the car and open the trunk. But I told him I couldn't do that either because it was full of dead bodies, and I didn't want to get in trouble. Well he hit the panic button! He got on the radio and called for backup and a supervisor. Well, I never saw so many police cars in my life! They came roaring up from every direction. The supervisor got out and demanded to see my license and registration. So I handed him the license and got the registration out of the glove compartment and assured him that they were in perfect order. Then he suggested that I needed to open the trunk, and I did, and he saw that there was nothing in there but a spare tire and some tools. He told me that the officer had said that I was driving without a license, in car that might be stolen, carrying a concealed weapon, and that there were dead bodies in the trunk. And I said, "Well doesn't beat all! He probably told you I was speeding too." Howard
