I don't think that had anything to do with it. It was just an interesting way of presenting the material. But I am usually happy with movies where most of the scenes are dark like that.
It took about three minutes for me to think, "Hey, this is just a play on film." It was so much like a play I had to squelch an impulse to applaude after some of the better musical numbers.
I was curious about the female lead. (I refuse to try to spell a name I can't even pronounce.) I had seen pictues of her and knew that she was no beauty, so I wondered why all of the acclaim. It was talent. I can't wait to see her in a different role. My guess is that she can handle almost anything.
I surely got my dollar's worth. Howard
