So in that case, let me mention that as a result of our recent trip to the Cumberland County Playhouse (in Crossville, Tennessee) to see "Cats", we are now planning to go back to see "42nd Street." We saw the latter back in the 80's on a trip to London, and enjoyed it enough to want to see it again. We may also go see "Smoke on the Mountain." > > The folks at Cumberland County Playhouse do an excellent job with every play. You would find it hard to believe that they are so far off Broadway. They often run two or more plays on different days of the week and have another or two in rehersals. After 40 years or so of producing plays, they have it pretty well figured out. There is a large talent pool available. Most of the talent is local but imported performers are often used. I have seen "Fiddler on the Roof," "Oklahoma" (twice), "South Pacific," "Carousel," and "The Music Man" there over the years, just to name a few. > Howard
The only musical I've seen with popularity was "The Wizard of Oz" and that was a long long time ago. I've seen other musicals but they weren't anything special.
I would like to see "Fiddler on the Roof" and "The Music Man" live because I actually liked them on tape. I've never seen all of "Oklahoma", but I don't really desire to see it *not my kind of musical*. I didn't like "South Pacific". I thought it to be rather boring. And I've never seen "Carousel" at all. I wouldn't mind seeing "Cats" though, the costumes on that are awesome.
Well, I'm usually not the one to post about musicals... but at RinkWorks... anything's possible. ;).
