They have a new system to weigh trucks, it has sensors embedded in the road I think, that correspond to a communications system (Mounted with the signs, or on sepperate polls) that let the truckers who have the system by-pass the weigh-stations.

Georgia uses them (at least on I-20) and I think I have seen them on that same interstate in Alabama. I also saw a few on my trip to Nebraska last summer.


which, reminded me of your description of ohio except that it's not quite liek a pool table in that it rolls. But it was open, very open. Really different for me, a southern boy used to having trees all around!
