I'm rather excited about our plans for Independence Day tomorrow. We'll be getting up early in the morning to go to the USAF Museum at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, where they'll open the gates at 9AM and start letting people in. I have a feeling that there will be quite a wait in traffic just to get to the gate tomorrow. Why?
The President is coming to town, and we have tickets!
President Bush is going to be giving a speech at approximately noon tomorrow to dedicate a new wing of the museum. It was announced in the paper on Tuesday that they'd be giving away free tickets starting at 10am, so I hopped in a car with one of my coworkers and we were among the first ones there to get them.
So we're going to sit or stand, I'm not sure which, in the hot sun for three hours tomorrow, all the while doing our best to keep a three-year old entertained, to hear our nation's leader speak for less than an hour in person. Needless to say, I'm excited about it. This will be the first time I've been to an event like this. It'd be really cool if we got to shake the President's hand like Sam did, but I shouldn't count on it, not with a rumored 25,000 attending. Still... this is going to be cool.
