Hi!
I've only been to Nova Scotia for a few hours, but I can answer some of those questions.
Any tips appreciated. Do they have indoor plumbing?
Yes, of course. They also have that new fangled electricification thing. Do they speak French or English?
English, mostly, AFAIK. Federal governement offices and their dependencies should, however, be able to provide service in French.
> How about snakes, mosquitoes, chiggers?
Mosquitoes, I think yes. It's a canadian certitude. I don't think there are venemous snakes, but don't take chances... They may also have black flies.
> Are speed limits in Kilometers?
Yes.
They drive on the right, don't they?
Yes.
Are the tides really that extreme?
Yes.
How cold is it in July?
I don't know for sure, but it's cool. Say 18-22 celsius. Probably windy, too. Bring a sweatshirt.
Do the rabbits that cross the road really have antlers and weigh a ton?
Actually, those are called Mooses. Rabbits have softer antlers.
How cold is the water?
Heh. New Brunswick advertise the hottest waters north of Virginia, so I guess Nova Scotia... Sort of ok? I mean, swimmable.
Are they on Easter or Atlantic time?
Atlantic. Daylight saving time in effect.
Does the sun really go down at 11 pm and come up at 4 am?
I don't think so. I'm in EST, about the same lattitude, and it's more like 8:30 PM, 9 PM to 5, 5:30AM.
