Do I need to tie my rope to the battlement or get in from the windows near the other side of the moat? Also, I don't know where to find the 14 more bronze for my horse.

Before you enter the castle keep you have the choice of entering the stairwell and going up to the battlement ... as you already indicate. Walk around to a spot where you can SMELL the kitchen cooking... ROPE... good luck :-)
