I usually have good luck at the DMV, but I know I've never met a DMV employee who can walk and chew gum at the same time. I just happen to have good luck mostly because I always fit nicely into their expectations. Like "Needs car registration, has all requisite papers ready to go" or "Licensed out-of-state US driver looking for Colorado license." But on that last one, they took my NH license away from me. It makes sense that you can't have two licenses from different states of the US, since you could use one for when the cops pull you over and one for when you get insurance. Besides, there's no way they could both have your proper address on them. However, I just *know* that when Carrie takes her driving test and gets her Colorado license, they'll try to take her NZ license away. I already told her not to even BRING it to the DMV that day, and if at all possible not to even hint that she has ever had a license from anywhere else ever. Because I just *know* that somewhere on their list of prompts there is "take away license from other state" and they won't even stop to think that they have absolutely no right or authority to take away a license issued by a completely different nation. I fear they'll try to take it away by force. Actually, I don't fear that--that just means Carrie will kick their ass and there'll be one less DMV idiot for awhile until that one recovers from the thrashing.
