GOA - after 3 humongous sized gold coins.....?

I wonder if something is odd about my game, whether I'll need to start over, OR, if I really am missing something.

My list of inventory is indicated below. That 3 you can see should be gold pieces the size of my head, but, in the actual game description, all I have is a 3 showing. When I select the 3 and hit enter, no description for the 3 comes up.

Also, after my first jump into the black hole there seems no way to cause any further progression in the game beyond the "3" head sized gold coins I've gotten. As well, I can't spend these coins anywhere.

Any suggestions anyone? Very greatly appreciated!
