Then there was the baseball field that used to be near where I used to live. We use to be so proud of ourselves when we'd hit a homerun out of there. Nowadays, (were it still there), we'd have more trouble keeping the ball *in* the park.
And then there's the backyard in the first house I lived in. My (very very fuzzy) memories of it are that it was enormous. A few years ago, we happened to drive by it. The size was enormous...ly disappointing.
And yeah, the backyard I grew up in shrunk over the years. For a while, the homerun line was over the swingset. Then we had to move it back to over the shed. In the end, I'd have to bat lefthanded (I'm naturally a righty) and on my knees so as to not put the ball into the yard of the guy that lived behind us every time. (Who also happened to be Evil, and would not give us our balls back. >:o)
And then there's the hill in front of my primary school. That thing used to be a mountain. Now it's...well...a hill. And the school was once enormous. It's now very very small. As is the field out back.
And then there's Dad. He used to be SOOO tall. Now he's like my height. What's up with that?
