Okay, okay. If you insist.

I think the point above was covered when the DVD came out - you got soundbites from Keanu Reeves and Joel Silver and everyone else talking about how it all MEANS SOMETHING and that PHILOSOPHY IS IMPORTANT, but when you finally get to the Wachowskis, they just say "it's about robots..versus Kung Fu" and grin like they've just let you in on the whole joke. Which they have.

The Matrix was a great exercise in style over content - you could sit and watch the entire thing just going "WOW" and never once question the concept of using people as a power source (feeding the dead to the living? Diminishing returns? Anyone? Anyone?*). I don't expect the Matrix: Reloaded to be any different.

Fanboys the 'net over have been moaning endlessly about the use of Kung Fu - why would Neo need to use Kung fu now that he can shape the Matrix to his will?

Because it looks really, really cool, perhaps? And having Neo frown at people only for them to explode or melt or just stand there looking impotent would make for a sucky movie - two hours of pseudo-philosophy with no Yuen Woo Ping/John Gaeta money shots...

But what do I know? I haven't even seen it yet.
Ah well, it's only a week.
