I may be wrong about this, but aren't there "good Samaritan laws" in effect that basically prevent this sort of thing? I think that it would be nearly impossible for them to sue you, given your account of the whole thing. Unless you're a medical professional, I think you're protected from this kind of a lawsuit. You may want to look into it, though.
