I can dig up particular reasons if you want, but he's one that serves nine times out of ten:

If Stratford Willy was really the frontman for somebody else's plays, that somebody else must have had a good reason to go to the trouble of arranging to have Willy front for him.
Nobody's been able to suggest a convincing reason for Bacon to want to do such a thing.
